What is a cam lock and how does a cam lock work?

A cam lock is a compact mechanical lock where a keyed or keyless cylinder turns a flat “cam” to engage or release an enclosure, commonly with a 90° or 180° rotation. The rotating cam latches behind a strike or frame cutout, enabling quick, repeatable quarter-turn access on panels, drawers, and cabinets.

Fornd's Industrial Cam Lock Product Range

As a professional cam lock manufacturer and industrial locks supplier in China, FORND does not only produce individual cam locks—we provide a complete portfolio of locks & latches systems engineered for demanding enclosures and equipment. Our solutions are designed to work together across cabinets, access panels, doors and hatches, so OEMs can standardize on one reliable hardware platform.

Rotary Latch Systems

FORND rotary latch systems offer concealed, multi-point locking where a visible handle is not desired or where operators need remote actuation.

Hidden latch mechanism protects against prying and vandalism

Single or multiple latch points controlled from one actuator

Ideal for off-highway machinery, vehicle doors, and heavy equipment panels

Draw Latches

Our stainless-steel heavy-duty draw latches create a strong clamping force between two panels, keeping doors firmly seated under vibration.

Adjustable tension for tight sealing and reduced noise

Multiple sizes and load ratings for industrial doors, covers and machine guards

Suitable for HVAC units, generator covers, industrial equipment and transportation compartments

Swing Handle Lock & Multi-Point Systems

Swing handle locks combine ergonomic operation with multi-point locking rods, helping large doors close evenly with fewer deflection issues.

One-handed operation for tall enclosures and rack cabinets

Multi-point rod systems increase security and sealing performance

Widely used in electrical cabinets, data centers, telecom and 5G outdoor cabinets

Lock Cylinders

FORND lock cylinders provide the core security for cam locks, swing handles, and other locking systems.

Pin-tumbler, disc-tumbler and tubular cylinder options

KA/KD/MK keying schemes for professional key management

Compatible with many Fornd locks & latches to simplify BOM and service

Compression Latches

Compression latches integrate sealing force + locking in one mechanism, making them ideal where doors must meet NEMA/IP ratings.

Gasket compression reduces water and dust ingress

Eliminates rattling and panel vibration in mobile or high-vibration equipment

Commonly used in outdoor telecom enclosures, electrical cabinets, transport and marine applications

Quarter Turn Latches (Quarter Turn Cam Locks)

FORND quarter-turn latches are compact cam lock style mechanisms that provide fast, 90° access for doors and panels.

1/4 turn operation for quick opening and closing

Fixed or adjustable grip ranges to match different panel thicknesses

Available in zinc alloy, stainless steel, and plastic for various environments

Push-To-Close Latches

Push-to-close latches deliver an intuitive “slam to close” user experience while keeping panels securely retained.

Simple push-to-close, pull-to-open function for frequent access

Suited for self-service terminals, medical equipment, RV cabinets and interior doors

Easy single-hole mounting reduces installation time in production

Whether you need industrial cam locks, compression latches, swing handles, rotary latches or push-to-close solutions, FORND can help you build a consistent, high-reliability locking system across your entire equipment platform.
